Water safety isn’t something most people think about until something goes wrong. At Safe H2O, we believe that every home, business, and care facility in the UK should have straightforward, affordable access to professional water testing — without the complexity, the heavy-handed sales approach, or the inflated pricing that has historically made it difficult.
We work with a UKAS-accredited laboratory to provide genuinely accurate, reliable microbiological analysis of your water samples. Whether you’re a landlord with a legal obligation to assess Legionella risk, a care home manager protecting vulnerable residents, or a homeowner who simply wants peace of mind — we’ll guide you through every step of the process.
Choose the right testing kit for your property. Not sure which one you need? Our team is happy to help — just call, email, or send us a WhatsApp message and we’ll point you in the right direction. We’ll also confirm how many samples your property requires before you order.
Your samples are securely couriered to our UKAS-accredited laboratory partner for professional microbiological analysis. Every sample is handled in accordance with the relevant British and international standards, and your results are typically returned within 12 working days of the laboratory receiving them.
We send you your results in plain, easy-to-understand language — not a dense laboratory report that leaves you confused. If the results are clear, great. If bacteria are detected, we’ll explain exactly what that means, how serious it is, and what you should do next. You won’t be left to figure it out alone.
Whether you’re testing a single property or managing a commercial premises with multiple water outlets, we have a kit that fits. All kits include everything you need to collect your samples, along with full guidance from our team.
Working out the right kit is easier than you might think. The rule of thumb is simple: count your hot-water outlets, divide by two, and choose a kit that covers at least that number of samples. It works the same way for a two-bedroom flat or a twenty-room hotel. If you’re still unsure, just give us a call we’re always happy to work it out with you.

Legionella bacteria are naturally present in many freshwater environments at low, harmless levels. Problems arise when they enter man-made water systems — particularly where water is stored or distributed at temperatures between 20 degrees C and 45 degrees C, where it is allowed to sit stagnant in infrequently used pipework or outlets, or where scale, rust, sludge, and biofilm provide nutrients for the bacteria to feed on. Under these conditions, a small number of bacteria can multiply rapidly into a concentration capable of causing illness.

Hot and cold-water storage tanks, showers and shower hoses, little-used or dead-end sections of pipework, decorative water features, cooling towers, and any outlet where the water temperature is not maintained correctly are all recognised risk areas. The HSE's Approved Code of Practice (ACOP L8) sets out the legal framework for managing these risks in workplaces and rented premises.

Legionella bacteria cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted — and the water may look perfectly clear. The only reliable way to know whether your water system is harbouring the bacteria is to test it. Regular testing not only protects the people using your premises; it also provides documented evidence that you have fulfilled your legal duty of care as a property owner or manager.

A positive result can feel alarming — but in most cases, it doesn’t need to be. The purpose of testing is to find out what’s in your water before it becomes a health problem, and a detected result is simply the starting point for a measured, proportionate response. The Safe H2O team will contact you personally to explain your results, help you understand whether the level detected is of concern, and advise on the recommended next steps.
We work with trusted water treatment specialists who can assist with any remedial work that may be required — but we will never push you toward treatments you don’t need. Our job is to give you honest, accurate information so you can make informed decisions.
Our testing is carried out through an H2O approved laboratory to ensure accurate results, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
The Safe H2O Scheme makes it easy for consumers to choose places with safe water supplies.

Don’t panic — this is exactly why you tested. A positive result is the starting point for a measured, proportionate response. Our team will contact you directly, explain your results in plain English, and advise on the most appropriate next steps. In many cases, straightforward remedial actions such as temperature adjustments, outlet flushing, or disinfection are sufficient.
